Skoda India is not deterred by the ongoing credit crisis and falling sales sales of passenger car in India. Skoda India is planning to go ahead by launching new cars in 2009. The company aims to build long term customer satisfaction by focusing on quality products. The company also plans to launch new Skoda Laura, Superb and Yeti during the next calendar year. The new models of Skoda Laura and Superb will roll out from Skoda’s Aurangabad manufacturing plant along with a new sports-utility vehicle(suv), Yeti.
Skoda India also plans to introduce an affordable entry level small car for the Indian customers which will help the company to cater to larger customer base. Skoda and VW will develop a platform and car below Fabia and Polo in terms of price, as a joint venture. The new car will basically fall below the price band of Rs. 5 lakh that will help the company to make their presence in the small car market of India.
The company also plans to localize its model Fabia which currently rolls out from the Aurangabad plant in limited volumes, so that it will be now rolled out from the Chakan plant near Pune by mid-2009 with more local content and in higher volumes. The current localization in Fabia is about 15% which will go up to 50% when the car rolls out from the Chakan plant.
