Skoda Auto, a subsidiary of leading German car maker Volkswagen, is all set to showcase the all new Skoda Octavia 2011 at the upcoming Moscow Auto Show that is scheduled to start from 28th of August, 2010. Along with the new Octavia model, the company will also be displaying all of its current portfolio cars in Russia including premium sedan Skoda Laura, starting range sedan Skoda Fabia (available in sedan version in Russia), Skoda Octavia RS, Skoda Octavia Combi Scout 4x4 and Skoda Roomster.
Currently, the company sells the Octavia model as Octavia Tour in the Russian market and the upcoming Skoda Octavia 2011 will be a successor to this car in the country. It is expected that the new Octavia model will carry a 1.6L engine and possibly be launched in both diesel and petrol versions. It is expected that the new Octavia model will share its platform with Volkswagen's latest starting range sedan, Vento in the Indian market.
Besides this, the company is also expected to showcase a new hatchback variant of its popular sedan Skoda Fabia in this auto show. Unlike the Indian market, the Skoda Fabia model is available in only sedan version in the Russian market. It is also speculated that along with launching the hatchback version, the company will also phase-out the existing sedan version of Skoda Fabia from that market.
Meanwhile in India, the company is busy in the final preparations of the launch of its much awaited SUV Skoda Yeti which it had showcased at the Delhi International Auto Expo in the month of January 2010. It is expected that the Yeti model will be launched in the country by the end of this quarter along with a price tag of Rs 10 to 14 lakh. The Yeti model will be powered with a 2.0L diesel engine along with both two-wheel and for-wheel drive options.
