It seems that Ratan Tata, Chairman of Tata Group of Companies is all set to prove his words true of making the car within the reach of every Indian household earlier by manufacturing the most cheapest petrol car Tata Nano and now taking his step by the announcement of launching diesel engine version of Tata Nano as Nano Diesel. Earlier with an objective of increasing the declining sale of Tata Nano, Ratan Tata made the sincere endeavours by working hard on promoting Tata Nano and succeeded to some extent in his strategy.

This time with diesel variant, the Tata Nano also referred as “peoples car” is again in limelight, with this Tata also has announced that the Nano Diesel will be most fuel efficient car in the country in terms of an average by giving the average of 40 km per litre of diesel. According to official sources of Tata Company, the Nano Diesel variant of Tata Nano will be launched on the Indian roads by September 2011 and will present a tough competition against Bajaj-Nissan-Renault’s, another small car expected to be launched in 2012.

If the official sources of Tata Nano are to be believed than the Nano Diesel with an average of 40 km per litre diesel, the customers will have to pay the price even lower than Re. 1 per kilometre for running the Nano Diesel. The sources also reveals that the Nano Diesel will be upgraded with the fuel tank of 15 litres and is expected to be the most economical car within the segment of small cars in the country.

Talking to Business Standard the senior executive of Bosch India said, they have worked hard on the petrol version of Tata Nano and with the same spirit they are working on Nano Diesel. The Nano Diesel is upgraded with two cylinders, 700 cc engine generating huge power with making any compromise with fuel economy. He also added that though the official test figures regarding average are yet to computed but they expect to give an average of 40 kms per litre of diesel.
