Tata Nano to enter Island Nation Sri Lanka soon

As part of its aggressive strategy to make the small car Tata Nano popular in India and across the world, Tata Motors has decided to enter Sri Lanka. Recent reports have also come in that Sri Lanka would be the first destination to start the export of ‘Lakhtakiya Car’ (Rs1 lakh car) to the Asian countries. The company hopes that the Tata Nano price starting Rs1.15 lakh for the base model and Rs1.96 lakh for the Tata Nano Lx version would attract buyers in Sri Lanka.

In the beginning a lot of 500 Tata Nano cars will be sent to Sri Lanka in June this year. Initially Tata India hopes that it would be selling around 200 Tata Nano cars every month and eyes taking it to over 400 cars per month. Notably, Tata Motors has their dealer in Sri Lanka and the company is currently selling Tata Trucks through it.

Reports also reveal that before selling the Tata Nanos in Sri Lanka, Tata Motors will be making some changes to the Tata Nano and will be introducing inertia reel belts at the rear. Such seat belts are mandatory on all cars as per the Sri Lankan regulations. It is still unknown as to at what price Tata India is going to sell Tata Nano in Sri Lanka.
