The optional sunroof can be installed on all variants of the Tata Nexon

Tata Nexon Sunroof

Tata has revealed the official accessory list for the Nexon and buyers will be happy to note that they can opt for a sunroof as well. It costs Rs 16,053 and can be installed on any of the Nexon’s variants. It’s a manual sunroof that can be lifted up for ventilation and that’s why it’s not that expensive. And since it comes as a manufacturer-installed fitment, there’s no chance of the car’s warranty being affected.

If you are looking to get a sunroof fitted on your Nexon, you’ll probably have to wait for sometime as the accessory hasn’t been shipped to all the Tata dealerships yet. With this, Tata now offers an optional sunroof on the Nano, Tiago, Tigor and the Hexa.

Tata Nexon

Here’s a list of personalisation options you can choose for the Tata Nexon:

  • Six style kits: Aero Lite, Aero Lite Plus, Aktive Lite, Aktive Lite Plus, Aero Pro and Aktive Pro.

  • Exterior accessories: Front show grille garnish, head lamp / tail lamp chrome garnish, front bumper lower garnish, fog lamp garnish, side mirror skullcap chrome, door visor with chrome, door handle chrome, rub rail chrome garnish, rear bumper garnish chrome, front illuminated logo, front cornering sensor, DRLs with fog lamp, bumper corner protector, side step and mudflap.

  • Interior accessories: Puddle lamp, ambient mood lighting, illuminated scuff plates, floor mats and seats.

Honda WRV

The Honda WRV was the first sub-compact crossover to get a sunroof. Despite the sunroof not being the most usable feature for a country like India which experiences hot weather (most parts of our country) for most of the year, the sunroof happens to be a much sought-after feature. Honda says the WR-V’s top-spec VX variant outsells the base S variant, and the sunroof is something you get on the top variant only.

A sunroof-equipped Ford EcoSport is also on its way to India now (read more about it here). Contrarily, the segment leader, Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, neither has a sunroof nor will it get one in the near future.

Tata Nexon

Tata launched the Nexon with an automated manual transmission (AMT) recently at Rs 9.41 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). The AMT is available with both petrol and diesel engines. It also comes with three drive modes (Eco, City and Sport) and a creep function for a hassle free drive in bumper-to-bumper traffic.

Since the Nexon’s sunroof is a manual one, it’ll be best used as a cosmetic add-on and something that makes the cabin appear airier. Let us know your thoughts on Tata offering a manual sunroof (optional) on the Nexon in the comments section below.
