The entire world knows the Tata Motors's accomplishment with the Tata Nano small car. Now, the group has yet another reason to boast about. Tata Technologies put its best foot forward at the ongoing Detroit Motor show by showcasing a $20,000 electric car,eMO on Wednesday. Tata Technologies vehicle development team head, Kevin Fisher begs to differ if you make a mistake of considering this small car an electrified version of Tata Nano. Because, it is definitely not. He was very particular to drive home the point that keeping the target as $20,000 for the electric car, they intended to develop an all-electric car with the potential to take upon the best of the class electric cars in the international markets.

Innovation at its best, most advanced combined with basic engineering principles and Tata Technologies expertise in delivering the best has resulted in the outcome. The car is ideal for those who are on a look out for a compact four-seater to traverse through the busy roads with utmost ease and capability. The success with this electric car did not come quite easily and had to take full help from 300 engineers across the world along with the inputs and advice from four different units of Tata Technologies, one from its very own Pune plant in India, Detroit in Michigan State of USA, Coventry in UK and Stuttgart in Germany. The $20,000 electric car is another reason to take pride in our nation’s advancement in electric car manufacturing.

Tata Group now stands with its head high to be the second manufacturer to develop electric cars within the country only next to Mahindra & Mahindra who has years and years of established presence in this segment with its electric car manufacturing subsidiary Reva electric. The lack of infrastructure for electric cars in India has kept many car manufacturers at bay despite their interest to make a foray into the country who have a couple of best products to show off in this segment. Anyhow, ever since the last budget session there has been a considerable improvement in the area giving a couple of good reasons to delve the opportunities in this segment, which is only going to improve here on with the next budget session coming up.
