Volvo is now venturing into the business of feature loaded affordable premium cars that is currently being dominated by three German auto majors. The V40, which was launched earlier this year in the Geneva Motor Show had refreshed and stunning looks. The new Volvo XC40 is a compact crossover, which falls in B-segment. Although, the vehicle’s presence has to be still confirmed by the company, but the spy shots of the car being tested in Norway are wired on net.
The look of the Volvo Compact Crossover XC40 is much similar to the V40 but the ground clearance, ride height and a bit rugged look of the XC40, prove it better than the V40. The new vehicle from Volvo will be available in a wider range of petrol and diesel engine options in comparison to its sibling. The petrol engine of the Volvo XC40 comes in three variants: 1.6-litre turbo, which generates 150PS of power, a 1.6-litre turbo engine, designated as T4, churning out 180PS of power and the big T5 unit, which gives out 254 PS of power.
The diesel engine also has three variants: D2 1.6-litre turbo diesel engine, generating 115PS of power, 2.0-litre D3, delivering the power of 150PS and D4 engine unit that delivers power output of 177 PS. The speculations are on rife that the vehicle will be launched at the Paris Motor Show, later this year. The key competitors of the Volvo XC40 are Audi Q3 and BMW X1, which are very popular in the similar segment. The global launch of the car will lead to the intense competition and the vehicle will be soon launched in India. There are chances that Volvo may have an aggressive sale in India as the company has right product, but is missing its brand name for challenging auto majors like Mercedes, BMW and Audi.
