The Kushaq Active automatic would be significantly more affordable than its petrol-automatic rivals.
The Skoda Kushaq was launched in three variants, of which only two are available with the choice of an automatic transmission. A recent registration document reveals that the entry-level Active variant will soon get that choice too.
The Kushaq’s two engine options are 1-litre and 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engines. Both can be had with a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque-converter automatic for the 1-litre unit and a 7-speed DCT automatic for the larger engine. The three variants on offer are Active, Ambition and Style. The 1.5-litre engine is limited to the top-spec Style variant while the smaller unit is offered with all three variants.
Skoda currently offers an automatic option from the mid-spec Ambition variant only, which is priced at Rs 14.19 lakh while the Kushaq’s base price is set at Rs 10.49 lakh. An automatic variant of the entry-level Active variant would likely be priced at around Rs 12 lakh, which would still make it more affordable than the Ambition-MT variant. This would make it one of the most affordable automatic options in the compact SUV segment, second only to the likes of the Maruti S-Cross.
