Toyota bags 12 'Top Safety Pick' Awards from IIHS

Toyota took home 12 awards from the 2015 Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) annual Top Safety Pick awards, making it the automaker with more awards than any other automaker. Out of the 12 awards, eight Toyota and Lexus vehicles earned a Top Safety Pick+ rating while four Toyota and Scion vehicles earned Top Safety Pick rating. Toyota Prius V was particularly recognized by the IIHS for its significantly improved performance all-around in the small overlap crash test and was awarded a Top Safety Pick+. Also, Toyota Sienna was the only minivan awarded the 2015 Top Safety Pick + award. 

“At Toyota, our focus remains on the safety and peace of mind of our customers,” said Dino Triantafyllos, Toyota’s North American Chief Quality Officer. “We’re pleased the IIHS has recognized the strong and improved safety performance of our vehicles in a range of crash tests.”

List of Top Safety Pick+ winners from Toyota/Lexus:

Toyota Prius, Toyota Camry, Toyota Prius V, Toyota Highlander, Toyota Sienna.

Lexus CT (built after Sept. 2014), Lexus RC, Lexus NX.

List of Top Safety Pick winners from Toyota/Scion:

Toyota Avalon, Toyota RAV4 (built after Nov. 2014).
