There was a big question mark on the fate of Toyota Etios Liva Hatchback when Toyota Kirloskar Motors announced that it had postponed the launch of Toyota's long-awaited under Rs 5 Lakh hatchback due to production constraints at it's Bidadi plant. The Toyota Etios Liva Hatchback was scheduled to be launched in the first quarter of 2011. The launch has been delayed by three months and following the aftermath of earthquake and tsunami in Japan, a further delay is expected. It is also learnt that the inspiring sales of Etios Sedan have also impacted the launch of the Toyota Etios Liva Hatchback.

If we give a close thought to the situation in the backdrop of the earthquake and tsunami in Japan and when the company has curtailed production till the end of May, we can be sure that the proposed launch of Toyota Etios Liva Hatchback could be further delayed. This would be the obvious choice for Toyota Kirloskar Motors as they have to first utilize the capacity of the Bidadi plant to clear existing orders before channelizing any resources to the production of Toyota Etios Liva Hatchback.
