Toyota eyes to rev up sales with competitively priced Etios

Toyota Motor, the world’s biggest Japan-based automakers asserted that Toyota Etios Liva is gaining momentum at an extremely high pace for a low-cost hatch back, however India’s largest automakers Maruti India remains untouched. With many big brands aiming to create low-cost hatchbacks keeping emerging Indian car market in mind, Toyota Motor has set a great challenge in front of all the auto companies. Launched recently on June 27th of this year, Toyota Etios Liva received as many as 1,400 orders in the first four days against the expected 1000 orders.

At the starting price of Rs 3, 90,000 of Toyota Etios Liva; it seems like a throw away price among the usual Toyota’s global line up. Toyota Etios Liva hatchback is the first low-cost model among the other outrageously priced car models commonly made by Toyota and serves as a crucial test to take on the Brazilian and other emerging car markets to ensure the future success for global automakers. As we have seen all the big names in global auto market, Volkswagen and General Motors are now into low-cost hatchbacks production targeting the booming car markets of Brazil and India, being the world’s fourth and sixth biggest car markets respectively.

Toyota Etios chief engineer Yoshinori Noritake has informed that they have initiated the marketing of Toyota Etios Liva with India as Indian auto market is most competitive with low-cost car models and if they succeed here their success in any other emerging markets is a sure shot.Toyota Motor Corp. is expected to start the compact car production with Etios’ underpinnings in Brazil from the second half of 2012.
