Toyota Fortuner booked in large numbers

Toyota Kirloskar Motor today in a statement released today said it has received 5,000 bookings pan-India for its Toyota Fortuner within ten days of its launch. The company may reach a benchmark by selling over 2,500 units of Toyota Fortuner by the end of this year and thus is trying to ramp-up monthly production from 500 to 600 units to meet high customer demand, Deputy Managing Director (Marketing), Sandeep Singh said.
The company has announced a 35% growth in overall sales in August this year over the same month last year.The big marque car-maker company had launched its SUV Toyota Fortuner in India in the last week of August this year. Toyota Fortuner has already sold over 2,50,000 units globally in more than 60 countries since its launch in 2005.
The company is planning to launch its compact car by end-2010 or early-2011, a company spokesperson said. The Toyota Corolla Altis has seen rise upto 91% in sales for January to August this year. The company is considering a price increase in Toyota Corolla Altis and Toyota Innova due to rising input costs and fluctuation in exchange rates.
