Toyota Motors, largest car maker of the world which saw a series of safety recalls last month, has said that it sees no impact of these incidents on its sales in India. Mr Sandeep Singh, Deputy Managing Director (Marketing) of Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) said that there is no impact on company's sales in India and as company has doubled its sales in the country in last two months. According to him the impact of last month's biggest-ever safety recalls by the company is limited to the US market only and company is receiving high demand for each of the vehicle in its Indian portfolio.
Mr Singh added that sales of the company may slow-down in the period of April-May this year as some states of the country have raised the road tax and VAT, while at the same time the government of India has raised the excise duty by 2 percent. However, he was optimistic about the good sales of the company in coming months if economy continues to do well.
Toyota India currently has some of the most popular models in its portfolio in India including Toyota Innova, Toyota Prius and Toyota Fortuner. Besides this the company is in the process of launching a premium hatchback in India named as Toyota Etios by this year end.
