The dual-tone options are offered only with the Premium variants of the Toyota SUV

Update (23/09/2020): Toyota has launched the Urban Cruiser with prices beginning from Rs 8.40 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). Read more about it here.

  • Toyota’s Urban Cruiser is based on Maruti’s sub-4m SUV, the Vitara Brezza.

  • Cruiser and Brezza share a similar colour palette, except for the brown and red paints respectively.

  • Common monotone colours for both SUVs are white, silver, grey, blue, and orange.

  • It is expected to be priced between Rs 8.20 lakh and Rs 11.15 lakh (ex-showroom).

Toyota’s entry in the sub-4m SUV segment will be marked by the upcoming Urban Cruiser. It is based on the Maruti Vitara Brezza and hence, features a similar design language save for the redesigned front fascia, dual-tone interior and a new colour. It will be launched in the coming weeks with pre-launch bookings for the SUV already open for Rs 11,000. Now, ahead of its launch, Toyota has revealed the colour palette of the Urban Cruiser. Here’s a detailed look at the shades it will be available in:

  • Sunny White

  • Iconic Grey

  • Suave Silver

  • Rustic Brown

  • Spunky Blue

  • Groovy Orange

The Urban Cruiser will come in a total of nine colours, including three dual-tone shades. When compared to the donor SUV’s colour palette, the Urban Cruiser gets similar monotone shades except for brown which is not available on the Maruti’s sub-4m SUV. Instead, Maruti offers the Vitara Brezza with a red paint monotone option. Both the red and brown shades are available with a black roof on the respective SUVs.

Another difference is that the Maruti Vitara Brezza gets a unique dual-tone shade (grey with orange roof), while the Urban Cruiser gets orange with white roof dual-tone colour option. The only common dual-tone shade on both SUVs is blue paint with a black roof. Toyota will only offer the top-spec Premium variants of the Urban Cruiser in a dual-tone shade. Likewise, Maruti only offers the ZXi+ variants of the Vitara Brezza in a dual-tone paint option.

It will be offered with the Vitara Brezza’s 1.5-litre petrol engine (105PS/138Nm). It comes paired to either a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed torque converter. While the manual gearbox will come as standard, Toyota will offer the 4-speed AT gearbox as an option across all variants. Only the automatic variants of the Urban Cruiser will get the mild-hybrid tech that offers idle engine start/stop, regenerative braking and torque assist. Toyota will offer the Urban Cruiser with a 3-year/1 lakh km warranty as standard compared to the Maruti’s 2-year/40,000km standard coverage.

The Urban Cruiser is expected to be priced from Rs 8.20 lakh to Rs 11.15 lakh (ex-showroom). It will lock horns with the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Tata Nexon, Mahindra XUV300, Ford EcoSport and Hyundai Venue. The upcoming Kia Sonet, Renault Kiger and Nissan Magnite will also rival Toyota’s sub-4m SUV.
