Toyota Motors, World,s largest car maker is testing its sport utility vehicles to reassure the buyers of safety of these vehicles, after Consumer Reports in its domestic market Japan, warned a large Lexus SUV is susceptible to rolling over.

According to the Toyota spokesman Brian Lyons, the testing covers the entire lineup of Toyota and Lexus SUVs, which also includes popular models such as the RAV4, the 4Runner and the Highlander. Now, the company will be testing the vehicles' stability control and aims to replicate the Consumer Reports' test that first uncovered the problem, he added. Though the company hasn't disclosed the duration of these tests.

Starting from today, Toyota is suspending the production of the Lexus SUV - the GX 460 - which is built in Tahara, Japan, for 12 days. With this, the company has already stopped sales of this vehicle starting from this week. The company is yet to take a decision on whether it will recall the vehicle, mainly sold in North America.

The Consumer Reports gave the GX 460 a rare Don't Buy rating because its rear slid out too far during sharp turns designed to test the vehicle's handling. That puts the back end at risk of hitting a curb and rolling over.
