Ford has already showcased the updated EcoSport in Europe and it recently went on to sale there. The company will also launch the updated EcoSport in India in coming months and it will get the updated 1.5-liter TDCi diesel along with interiors and mechanical upgrades. However, the Euro-spec car gets optional removal of the spare wheel, the Indian version will continue to offer the rear mounted spare wheel.
The 1.5-liter TDCi, just like in the new Aspire, will get a 10 PS power bump in the updated EcoSport, the oil burner now generates 100 PS @ 3750 rpm and class leading torque of 215 Nm @ 1750 - 3000 rpm. And like before power will be sent via a 5-speed manual gearbox to the front wheels. Expect an increase in the fuel efficiency of the EcoSport, somewhat near to the Aspire's 25.83 kmpl.
Speaking of other upgrades, expect that changes done in Euro-spec to follow in our EcoSport since the vehicle is exported from India. In Europe, it offers new steering wheel, piano black accents (instead of silver) and chrome detailing. The SYNC’s display has been updated, it now features a bigger 4-inch colour display. The NVH levels have further reduced with new and thicker sound deadening materials.
It received revised springs, dampers, rear torsion beam along with updated Electronic Stability Programme, and Electronic Power Assisted Steering settings. Ford promises ‘Significant improvements’ in the driving dynamics of the updated EcoSport.
