Volkswagen is all set to launch the Polo GT, which is powered by a 1.2-litre TSI petrol engine. The all new Polo GT is a replacement for the top-of-the-line Polo 1.6 litre variant, which was removed from the line-up in 2012. Despite of being a 1.2-Litre engine, it is capable of producing 105bhp, which is equal to the power generated by the phased out 1.6-litre version. The vehicle hasn't been launched, but the Polo GT has reached dealerships and one can book it by paying Rs. 50,000. The deliveries will start from the first week of next month.
The new Polo GT is capable of reaching from 0 to 100kmph in just 9.7 seconds with the top speed of 190kph. We reported earlier that the top of the line variant will come with a seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox and also equipped with ESP (Electronic Stability Programme), indicating that there is a lot of performance on offer. The car will be available with a seven-speed dual clutch DSG transmission. The new Polo 1.2 TSI will compete against Skoda Fabia and the Hyundai i20 Sport. It is also expected that the Volkswagen will use the same turbocharged engine on newer versions of the Vento, Fabia and Rapid.
