Swedish luxury carmaker Volvo Auto India’s corporate golf tournament ‘Volvo World Golf Challenge’ (VWGC) concluded its first event in Chandigarh with Mr. H.S Kang as the winner in the Handicap Category 0-12 and Col. J. S. Kang as the winner in the Handicap Category 13-24.
The tournament, played at Chandigarh Golf Club, saw top amateurs including the likes of Padma Shri Award winner Mr. Milkha Singh and others from the corporate world & the industry competing against each other. Mr. Sudeep Narayan, Marketing & PR Director, Volvo Auto India, said, “We are humbled by the tremendous response we have received in Chandigarh, especially in this 45 degree Celsius summer.
The competition was close and it was a pleasure to see the golfers sweat it out to win the specially-designed work of art trophy, “The Blu Lotus” created exclusively for the 'Volvo World Golf Challenge' by renowned blown glass artist Atul Bakshi. It captures the Scandinavian flavour that is synonymous with Volvo’s global ethos ‘Designed Around You’, which customizes products around an individual’s preferences.”
“Mr. HS Kang and Col. J.S Kang are now one step closer to representing India at the World Finals and I would like to congratulate them on behalf of Volvo Auto India and welcome them to the finals," he added. VWGC will be played across 6 other cities in India – Delhi/ NCR, Mumbai, Coimbatore, Hyderabad, Kochi and Pune. The two winners from each city will compete at the India Finals later this year.
