The German auto giant Audi is all geared up to break covers of 2012 Q3 crossover in the next few weeks in India. The company wishes to appeal to the young generation with this neoteric crossover as it places this brand new car as an entry level product for its Indian line-up. Audi India has also released a teaser on Facebook for the same. Post the launch, the new Audi Q3 crossover is going to compete with the leading BMW X1 and the upcoming Mercedes Benz B Class which are the entry level products for the respective brands in the Indian car market. This attempt of drawing in the young generation is directed towards increasing the fan and customer base of the company.

Audi India hopes that this new class of buyers would like to switch to more expensive Audi cars in the next few years. Since the new Q3 Crossover is of special essence and is supposedly an entry level car from Audi, the price of this car is a crucial factor. In order to keep the costs in check Audi has decided to assemble this new car at the company’s Aurangabad plant through CKD (completely knocked down) kits. The CKD kits would keep the costs to the minimum resulting in the base price to fall under Rs. 30 lakh which would ultimately make Q3 crossover the least expensive Audi car in India.

The car would be launched on the Indian shores in both the petrol and diesel variants. The petrol version will draw power from a 2-liter TFSI turbo petrol engine that is capable of driving a power of 211 BHP and a torque of 350 Nm. The diesel version will be powered with a 2-liter TDI turbo diesel engine pumping 170 BHP of power and 350 Nm of torque. Both the petrol and diesel engines will be mated to a 7 speed automatic DSG dual clutch gearbox, Audi will also release this new 2012 Q3 crossover with the renowned Quattro all wheel drive system. Audi India, however will avoid bringing out the trimmed variants of this car as the company does not wish to compromise on the luxury quotient its cars are famous for.
