Car and bike sales continued moving smoothly this July

In July, Maruti Suzuki India observed its highest monthly sales in the domestic market as the sales of cars and bikes continued moving smoothly in the country. The industry insiders, analysts and experts are expecting a good time for the automakers as there are enough chances of retaining the momentum for the remaining year because of the festive season coming ahead and good monsoon. Maruti Suzuki, country’s largest carmaker recorded an year-on-year jump of 33% in domestic sales in the month of July. Also the overall monthly sales of Maruti Suzuki crossed the mark of one-lakh for the second time, said the company in one of its statements. 

With the launch of new Alto, which is a top selling car of India, Maruti Suzuki is expecting to keep up the pace. On the other hand, Hyundai Motor India, the Korean auto major, has been successful in regaining its position as the second-largest carmaker of India. They have left Tata Motors behind. 

An impressive 62% year-on-year jump in sales was recorded by Tata Motors. During the month of July, Mahindra and Mahindra, the fourth largest player also observed a 20% rise in sales. Similarly, the luxury carmaker, Mercedes Benz India also recorded a sales of 521 units in the month of July. This has been Mercedes Benz India’s highest-ever monthly sales in its existence of 15-years in India. Moreover the auto industry is full of hopes as the festive season is about to begin and the good monsoon is also on its way. This will keep consumers in the good buying mood both in urban and rural areas.

Abdul Majeed, an auto practice leader at PricewaterhouseCoopers said that the automakers will be able to maintain their margins and a growth rate of 13-15% through the year with raw material prices showing signs of softening and a good monsoon. Toyota Kirloskar also reported a jump of 36% in sales because of its successful launch of the Fortuner and the Corolla Altis diesel. It is expected that the company would launch its yet another new model Etios in December.
