Fiat India to Open 80-100 Solo Dealerships in 18 months, Good Move!

The Italian automobile company, Fiat Motors' Indian subsidry is planning to set up about 80-100 independent car dealers in 35 cities of India in next 12- 18 months with an aim to multiply its market share in the Indian automobile industry in coming 2-3 years. Enrico Anatasio, the senior vice- president of Fiat India told that the company is moving towards a milestone with volumes increasing gradually, which will result in much better sales of the company in the process.
Anatasio further added that the company is planning to increase its market share to 1.5 percent with focused dealer network and new variants of brands which are coming up in some time. In the year 2011-12, Fiat India sold 18,000 units of vehicles in the market size of more than 2 million vehicles capturing 0.7 percent of the market. The sales of the Punto in the first quarter was higher in comparison of a year ago statistics, which followed the launch of other variants of Punto like Punto Sport priced at Rs 7.36 lakh.
Fiat India has also commenced its second Café' in India with the launching of Limited Edition Fiat Punto Sports in Pune, building the brand image has been the vision behind opening these cafes. The company is also working with its global partner Chrysler to enter in India with new product portfolio like jeep in the next few years as well as establishing new Fiat dealerships network. Anatasio further said that the company will consider some opportunity rather than bringing all the brands and the existing network will continue in the country, besides the new network is built. Tata Motors 23 dealers have given the conformation of providing an Independent “set-up” to the Fiat Brand across the country but Fiat India approached 40 dealers of Tata Motors.
