Honda Motors showcased a new electric concept car EV-STER at the Tokyo Motor show recently. From what we hear, the new all-electric concept car has gained enough response from the audience, which Honda has taken as a green signal from the masses. No, EV-STER is endowed with something we don’t very often see. That is the lithium-ion battery that powers the rear two wheels of the car. Basically, we are talking about an electric motor with a rear wheel drive.
Toyota Motors is the only other car manufacturer to claim of the rear wheel drive electric cars. What more, the Honda EV-STER electric car will soon go into production. But, will Honda Motors consider a hybrid plug-in for this car or a gasoline engine instead is what we will have to wait and see. Coming down to see what the Honda EV STER electric concept car is really like, the acceleration is what comes into the mind first. The all electric car boasts to pick the 0-100 kmph speed in just 5 seconds. Moreover, the car can cover a distance of an unbelievable 160 km at a single battery charge. The top speed is also quite remarkable at around 100 kmph, which is once again very unusual.
So in all, it’s not a wonder to have passed the consumer appraisal in flying colors at the Tokyo Motor show. However, Honda India doesn’t seem to display the car at the upcoming Indian Auto Expo. If it does, then we do not have any wind of it as yet. The EV-STER concept is basically a sports car with an all-electric motor. It’s not as if Honda has come with a breakthrough in sports car segment with an electric motor powering the car. Tesla is the electric car manufacturer to come up with the electric powered sports cars for the first time in the history of electric cars.
