The South Korean auto titan, Hyundai has pulled an interesting move to raise the bar and force other car makers to be on their feet. Hyundai India is going to offer the Verna Fluidic in cheap and automatic diesel variants. This move is the maximum extent at which a strategy can be in accordance with the sentiments of the car buyers, which restricts them from buying automatic cars. Majority of the consumers believe that the top end variants are the only ones being offered with automatic transmission which makes then way too expensive.
Another factor that might have propelled this idea is the fact that in the sub 20 lakh segment only petrol variants are bestowed with the automatic transmission. And since petrol cars incur higher operational costs most of the automatic petrol cars are left alone by the customers. Last year, Hyundai India had gratified the Verna with bucket-load of features and had released 10 variants; this car has also risen as one of the best selling models of the C-segment. The probable launch of a cheap Hyundai Verna Fluidic Diesel in the automatic guise is the best thing that can happen to this car in the current scenario.
If Hyundai follows this plan for real then this will be the first time that a car maker will roll out an entry level diesel automatic car. This Korean car giant is not new to the concept of affixing cars with over-the-top features and technology, ultimately raising the standards for all contending car-makers; in fact the first car to be housed with CRDi engine in huge volumes was the Accent diesel. The current hatchback segment leading i10 and i20 give a premium feel with the premium features like six speed transmission and sunroof etc.
This rolling out of an inexpensive Verna Fluidic automatic diesel could prove to be really helpful in boosting the sales which could come as a relief for the company at this time when the auto industry of India is facing a dearth in the demand and sales. In the segment of Hyundai Verna, the confluence of an automatic transmission system with a diesel engine is a first of its kind and is expected to give an edge to Verna over other competitors. This auto giant is also planning on rendering a reverse camera as a standard feature to the entire variant range of the Hyundai Verna Fluidic.
