Mahindra that launched its sub-4 metre compact UV Quanto back in September 2012, had given hints at launching a more competent version of the car, which we think will be a 4x4 version. And now Guys at MotorBash have caught such a version during its test run around Pune, further assuring that the vehicle might launch soon.
The caught vehicle was a five-seater version with no jump seats at the rear to leave enough space for luggage, while the existing variant is being sold with 7-seater option. So, there is a possibility that the 4x4 version of the vehicle might launch in just five-seater option, as with the 4WD mechanism the car will surely be targeting the auto enthusiasts who love to speed.
However, there were no 4WD (four-wheel drive) badges on the body of the car, it was the front wheel hubs with '4WD' inscribed on it. There are also rumours that the Quanto 4x4 could house a 2.2-litre mHawk diesel under its hood, to make it more fun to drive car. The existing Quanto houses a 3-cylinder 1.5 diesel engine.
On the other hand, its rival Renault Duster too is in the process to get a 4x4 version of the car, however the upcoming Ford EcoSport won't have any 4WD option.
