The petrol-powered XUV300 is now more affordable by up to Rs 87,000, while some diesel variants have received a price cut of up to Rs 39,000. On the other hand, Mahindra has increased the prices of the first three diesel variants by up to Rs 20,000. It has also introduced a new W8 (O) dual-tone variant in the diesel-powered SUV’s lineup priced at Rs 11.90 lakh.
Even though Mahindra offers the XUV300 with a sunroof, cruise control, a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, rain-sensing wipers, auto AC, and reverse parking camera, it still misses out on connected car tech as seen in rivals such as the Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, and the upcoming Kia Sonet and Nissan Magnite. Having said that, the XUV300 is still a good sub-4m SUV to buy given its extensive equipment list that includes safety features such as front and rear parking sensors, up to seven airbags, and corner braking control.
Under the hood, the XUV300 is offered with both petrol and diesel engines. While the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine (110PS/200Nm) comes mated to only a 6-speed MT, the 1.5-litre diesel motor (117PS/300Nm) is offered with both 6-speed MT and 6-speed AMT options. It is the only sub-4m SUV along with the Tata Nexon to offer an automatic option with the diesel variants. Apart from these, the upcoming Kia Sonet will also come with a diesel-auto variant.
Mahindra’s sub-4m SUV rivals the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza (Rs 7.34 lakh to Rs 11.40 lakh), Hyundai Venue (Rs 6.70 lakh to Rs 11.58 lakh), Tata Nexon (Rs 6.95 lakh to Rs 12.7 lakh), and Ford EcoSport (Rs 8.17 lakh to Rs 11.71 lakh). With the price cut, the XUV300 is cheaper than only the Ford EcoSport. It will also face competition from the upcoming Kia Sonet, Toyota Urban Cruiser, Renault Kiger, and Nissan Magnite.
