Maruti Suzuki has restarted selling the LPG WagonR in old version as the development of an LPG variant of its latest generation WagonR has yet to be completed. The country's largest car-maker, Maruti Suzuki has resumed selling the alternate option in the old version of the model.
Country’s largest car-maker Maruti Suzuki has stopped the Duo variant of the old WagonR after the launch of the new generation WagonR in April. The Duo variant of the old WagonR had both options of petrol and LPG. Shashank Srivastava, Maruti Suzuki India, Chief General Manager (Marketing) said that the company is now selling the ‘Duo' and it will continue till the LPG variant of the new WagonR is ready. The work on new LPG is going on.
About 20-22 per cent of total WagonR sales was contributed by Duo. Its sales stood at 10,000-12,000 units a month. Its LPG variant is priced at Rs 3.68 lakh. In reply to the possible timeline for the launch of the model, Srivastava said that the R&D team has just begun the work and it is unlikely that the LPG variant will be ready in this fiscal. In the meanwhile, the company is planning to launch the CNG version of WagonR in this month. In the second week of the month, four other models including Alto, Estilo, Eeco and SX4 will be launched on a single day.
