Maruti Suzuki is preparing for one of the company’s biggest product offensive in 2015. Over four new models in various segments are in the pipeline and many facelifts are also being planned. This year, the company introduced the Celerio followed by the Ciaz and the refreshed Swift. In 2015, the company will kick off the new launches with SX4 S-Cross, YRA premium hatchback, Celerio Diesel, Wagon R AMT and facelifts of Ertiga and Dzire. Maruti Suzuki has also been testing a new compact SUV, codenamed YBA, which could be launched in early 2016.
SX-4 Cross
The SX-4 Cross has been caught testing with its camouflage in India and the launch will see the car going against the likes of Hyundai’s Elite i20 Cross (which is also expected to be launched soon). The car has already been launched in Europe and may see some cosmetic changes for India. There are reports that suggest SX-4 Cross will be launched with new 1.3-litre diesel and 1.4-litre petrol engine.
YRA Premium Hatchback
Again this car has been making rounds in the internet with spy pictures and reports. The YRA (codename) hatchback is Maruti Suzuki’s answer to Hyundai’s Elite i20. The YRA hatch will be placed above the Swift in the portfolio and will retain the same engine lineup of the Swift, maybe in different tunes. It will, however, be more spacious and premium than the Swift.
Celerio Diesel
The diesel version of Celerio will be powered by a new 800 cc engine that the company has been testing with its new mini truck (which is also slated to be launched in 2015). The Celerio Diesel, when launched, will be one of the most fuel efficient cars in India and will compete with cars like Chevrolet Beat Diesel. It is still unknown if the Celerio Diesel will also get the AMT option but we hope it does.
Wagon R AMT, Ertiga and Dzire Facelift
After the Celerio and Alto K10, the next in line to get the AMT treatment is the Wagon R. The Wagon R AMT could be launched with few styling upgrades and the same engine mated to the AMT gearbox. The year 2015 will also see the facelifts of Ertiga and Dzire to keep the momentum going. While the Ertiga is facing a tough fight with Honda Mobilio, the Dzire is also receiving some heat from Hyundai Xcent and Honda Amaze.
