Mercedes-Benz has launched its first non-AMG G-Wagon in India at Rs 1.5 crore (ex-showroom). Until now, the G-Class was only offered as the AMG G 63 variant, which is a sportier version of the SUV.
The new G 350 d comes with a 3.0-litre six-cylinder diesel unit that produces 285PS of max power and 600Nm of peak torque. It also gets three differential locks, retaining its off-roading capability that all the versions of the G-Class are known for. The AWD drivetrain comes coupled with a 9-speed automatic transmission.

In terms of changes, the G 350 d gets a toned down, three-slat grille instead of the Panamericana AMG grille. Mercedes is offering a different set of alloy wheels along with less prominent wheel arches. However, the round headlamps and the spare wheel on the boot are some of the things that have been retained from the G 63.
Inside, the G 350 d features almost the same cabin except for the sporty elements like the carbon fibre details and inserts. The G 350 d comes with Nappa leather upholstery and plush interiors. It is equipped with the dual 12.3-inch displays, one for the driver’s instrument cluster and MID, the other a touchscreen display for the car’s infotainment system.
The G-Class is loaded with features like three-zone climate control, nine airbags, powered and ventilated front seats being some of its highlights. Mercedes has also fitted the new G 350 d with an embedded eSIM for its ‘Mercedes Me’ connected car technology and is the first Benz model in India to get it factory-fitted.
Mercedes also offers a high-level of personalisation for the G-Class via the G Manufaktur line of optional extras. Although it does not have any direct rivals, the G 350 d takes on the likes of the Land Rover Range Rover Sport and the Toyota Land Cruiser LC 200.
