Mini showcased the Clubman Concept yesterday at the ongoing 84th Geneva Motor Show. The concept draws designing clues from the 2014 Cooper hatch. The giant estate version of the hatch will hit the market by 2015 based on this concept version.
The concept vehicle is slightly longer and wider than the ongoing version of the Clubman by 260mm and 170mm respectively. The overall figures stands at 4,223mm in length, 1,844mm in width and 1450mm in height; making it comfortable five seater with acres of cargo space. Although , the concept looks production ready but the actual sale version will be a strategically toned version of this concept. The rear profile of this concept version is dramatically altered from the ongoing version, the vehicle from now onwards will be sporting wrap around horizontal tail lamps compared to the vertical ones on the current version. Front of the Clubman is similar to that of Cooper while the rear is definitely improved in this concept, and it certainly looks much better!
The vehicle continues to sport split boot lid, as Mini says they are easier for luggage ingress and egress. The concept version is showcased in dual tone contrasting paint similar to the Mini lineup and it is also equipped with twin parallely placed panoramic sunroof running throughout the roof profile. Mini doesn't give any lighting information on the power options for the production version but expect it to be mirroring powertrain from the 2014 Cooper hatch.
Concept showcases similar interior layout from the third generation of the hatch- 2014 Cooper. The classic big central round dial is carried along with the steering mounted twin dials. The concept version interiors are dressed in Black soft Nappa and Sky Blue Nubuck leathers plus leather wrapped dashboard with contrasting white porcelain and blue-limed ash grain inserts. Mini confirmed that the vehicle will be available in variety of trim levels and leathers.
The Clubman version of Cooper is not on the radar for Mini India at least for the imminent future, the company is only focusing on Cooper and Countryman range.
