Production at Tata Motors’ Sanand plant resumes

Production at Tata Motors’ Sanand plant has resumed after a temporary suspension for about a fortnight. This was done for maintenance and to rationalise and align inventory.The month however is witnessing very encouraging response to consumer-oriented marketing efforts from Tata Motors, resulting in increasing inquiries and footfalls at the company’s showrooms.

The Tata Motors, the leader in commercial vehicles, is believed to have reported to have faced a dip of six percent at 85, 392 units sale against their sales during the same time last year. Apparently the sales of the Jaguar Land Rover, a subsidiary of Tata Motors also posted flat sales of 19,119 units in the month of July.

Surprisingly, the Land Rover sales were high by 8 % at 14,747 units compared to the luxury brand Jaguar sales that were down by 23% to 4,372 units according to the statement made by the Tata Motors.The overall passenger vehicle sales that stood at 38,154 units in July 2011, registering a dip of considerable 24% as compared to the same period last year, the Tata Motors commercial vehicles rejoiced in increased sales by 16% marking 47,238 units sales in the corresponding period of last year.

The Tata Group’s sales across the world include the sales from its various marquees comprising Tata Motors, Tata Daewoo and Hispano Carrocera range of commercial vehicles. The Tata passenger vehicles including the distributed brands of Jaguar and Land Rover, two of the British auto brands also account for the Tata Group sales figures.
