The next-in-line for Tata after the Zest is its twin-hatch sibling Bolt, the hatch is expected to go on sale next month before the festive season. The recent spy shots of Bolt reveal interesting facts about Tata's new premium hatch. Speaking in this context, unlike the Zest, Bolt features an all-black interiors with a contrasting orange hue on top! This concept is common globally even the new i20 in Europe features a contrasting shades on dash.
Moreover, Bolt features a smoked projector headlamp compared to Zest and the test mule was spotted wearing a new orange exterior shade. On the feature list, similar luxuries will be on-board that are being offered on the Zest. Like automatic AC, 5-inch Harman touch screen infotainment unit, etc. Though Bolt is based on Vista, but it gets completely revised design, uprated mechanicals and bettered ride and handling. Major competitor of Bolt will be the Maruti Suzuki Swift.
Mechanically, Bolt will be sharing the engines with the Zest. On the petrol front, Bolt gets Tata's new 1.2 liter Revotron turbo petrol engine producing 83.8bhp (85PS) and a modest 140Nm of torque. Bolt diesel gets the Fiat Multijet which Tata calls Quadrajet with fixed-geometry-turbo pumping out 74bhp (75PS) and 190Nm of torque. As of now, both will be mated to a five-speed manual gearbox; but seeing the waiting period Zest diesel AMT gathered, they could introduce AMT later!
