Tata Motors brings Jaguar, Land Rover back to business

Latest update in Automobile market states with sheer backbreaking work and ingeniously crafted strategies added with positive market circumstances, Tata Motors India finally revitalized British luxury car makers Jaguar and Land Rover. It is worth mentioning that in 2007 US automobile giant Ford suffered huge losses with Jaguar Land Rover and sold less than 50,000 Land Rovers and about 15,700 Jaguars. After this, Ford sold the Jaguar Land Rover to Indian car giant Tata Motors at a price tag of $2.3 billion.

As per reports, Tata Motors disclosed the annual sales figure which indicates that around 244,000 JLR cars were sold globally and approx. $ 1.7 billion of total profit comprises of JLR unit, which is 80 percent of total profit. Moreover, opening of first assembling unit of Land Rover India can be seen as Tata’s aim to revitalize the JLR brand in Indian car market. If reports are believed, the change in fortunes of Tata Motors can be termed as astonishing until Jaguar Land Rover acquisition by Tata. Before the acquisition, complete profit of Tata Motors used to come from India which comprises of selling trucks and buses. Additionally, Tata Motors poured $3 billion in Jaguar Land Rover to roll out the losses, at times when British car market was running all time low due to recession.

Currently Tata Motors is selling wide range of Jaguar cars which include Jaguar XJ, Jaguar XF and Jaguar XK sedans in India. Other than this, Land Rover Discovery and Range Rover SUVs from Land Rover can also be seen running on Indian roads. Also as JLR is having direct competition with BMW, Tata Motors is leaving no stone un-turned in making JLR popular in India. Further with the increase in consumer’s preference regarding SUVs in India, Tata Motors is expecting good prospects of Range Rovers in India.
