The third full-scale installment of the wildly popular Nano: Art-in-Motion series saw the creation of the Nano Saddi Dilli art car at Youth Nexus, a talent show spread across top 40 colleges in Delhi. This year’s event featured teams from different colleges competing in four distinct categories comprising Street Play, Fashion, Choreography, and a Rock Band Competition, with the finale taking place in New Delhi's Ramlal Anand College.
The theme chosen for the third official Art Nano was “Saddi Dilli,” and was designed keeping in mind the sights and flavors of “Dilli.” Painted by a trio of artists from Mumbai known as “The Doodlers,” the car evoked a pop-art style as it sought to capture the busy and unique vibrancy of Delhi. The talented artists converted the Tata Nano into a canvas of modern art, showcasing the culture andmonuments of the city. The third installment of the series, Nano: Art-in-Motion strives to empower young artists and creative minds to use the Tata Nano as an outlet for their creativity, and a canvas for their lives.
In a nod to creative collaboration, students were asked to give their views on the modern, colloquial interpretations of road signs in Delhi. Out of thousands of student submissions, 11 entries were shortlisted, and can be seen within a dynamic and whimsical pop-art background of Delhi. The signatures of the 11 winning students appear alongside the artists’ own signatures.
The Tata Nano is a fun car, and art is all about having fun with colors, creativity and personal expression. Through this initiative, the Tata Nano is marrying art and utility to showcase a series of Tata Nanos, which will be embellished with varying theme-based imagery, further accentuating the brand’s personality as a personal symbol.
