Tata's highly anticipated compact sedan and hatch duo - Zest and Bolt's launch is around the corner; both the cars have been spotted testing several times. Tata sources its complete diesel powertrain – engine and gearbox from Fiat, the 1.3 liter Fiat's Multi-Jet dubbed as Quadrajet which has been powering Manza and Vista range. The engine is manufactured at Fiat's Ranjangaon manufacturing facility which also rolls-out Tata Manza along with Fiat's Linea and Punto. The upcoming Zest will be manufactured at Ranjangaon plant and is expected to share Manza's production line.
Speaking of Bolt, the hatch will be built at Tata's Pimpri-Chinchwad manufacturing facility in Pune, the plant currently producing company's other two hatchbacks – Vista and Indica eV2. Zest and Bolt are based on Tata's modified X1 platform which underpins Vista. This platform now adorns a completely new body which is an outcome of company's UK designing center. Both the cars are a major step-up in terms of quality and refinement complimenting the pleasing design. Nicely engineered product, modest interiors and renowned powertrains, all these attributes will help both the cars to make there own space in their respective segments.
Tata Zest and Bolt embrace few segment first features like the day-time-running-LED (Zest), projector headlamps, 5 inch touch screen infotainment system powered by Harman audio, automated-manual transmission (AMT) in diesel, leather upholstery, LED tail lamps and 16 inch radial & turbocharged petrol (segment first in Zest), all these features will make Tata siblings ahead of their rivals and will help to churn sales. Tata witnessed major slump in sales last year but the scenario will change once these cars are out.
Tata is also prepping up its dealership to offer world class customer experience before launching Zest and Bolt. The company is currently hiring 3000 staff all over the country. The technical sales personnel will be provided with tablets and video walls to provide extended assistance to the customers.
The inception of Zest and Bolt will bring the Tata's new Revotron family of turbo charged petrol engines. The débutante of series is the 1.2 liter turbo charged inter-cooled MPFI Revotron petrol motor. The engine gathers 85bhp of maximum power and 140Nm of peak torque. The duo boasting 1.2 Revotron petrol sports two driving modes, namely, normal and sports.
