Toyota Etios not likely to be exported in near future

Toyota Etios sedan, recently launched on the Indian shores by Toyota Motors, is a premium car affixed with sophisticated technology with advanced features at competitive prices. At present, the company expects to establish the car in the Indian auto sector and does not wish to explore the overseas market in the near future.

Sandeep Singh, the deputy managing director, said that, currently there are no plans for exporting the new car. As per the company, it speculates great demand for Toyota Etios in the Indian auto market and if the company plans to export the new car in overseas market, it will be difficult to cater to the demand in the domestic market. Toyota has invested Rs 3,200 crore for setting up its second production plant and also for the manufacturing of Toyota Etios. The company will launch the new car in the global auto market but that will happen after a while. As per the schedule, Toyota expects to bring Toyota Etios in Brazil in 2012.

The Saloon version is Toyota Motors' new bet in the Indian auto market which is going to give tough competition to the already established Maruti Swift Dzire and Tata Manza. The new sedan version by the Japanese auto giant is available with a price tag of Rs 4.9 lacs to Rs 6.8 lacs(ex-showroom, Delhi). Almost 4,000 engineers worked for five years to make this savvy sedan which was launched on 1st December, as “World First, India First”. The Japanese auto biggies are planning to enjoy a meaty chunk of the market with the new car. The new car will be available in two models, the sedan version which has been launched and the hatchback, Toyota Etios Liva which was unfolded on 1st December but will enter the market next year in April. With these mega products Toyota Motors will cover the white space it felt from a long time in the small car segment and in mid sized segment with competitive prices.

Toyota Motors in India plans to multiply the production capacity and expects to sell 70,000 or more units by next year.

Sandeep Singh added that, the company recently enhanced the capacity in the company's first manufacturing unit. Toyota Motors second manufacturing plant production holds a capacity of 70,000 cars. Together the company will manufacture 150,000 cars by next year. He also added that, with the new cars launched in the “B” segment cars will cover half of the sales target for the company.
