2012 Mahindra Thar 4x4 launched with engine immobilizer and AC for Rs. 6.86 lakh

Mahindra and Mahindra at last launched Mahindra Thar 4x4 SUV with engine immobilizer and air conditioning system. These two features will now come as standard in the SUV. The Mahindra Thar 4x4 SUV is basically targeted as on and off road car, and is known for it’s extremely splendid off road abilities. This highlight has resulted in M&M not offering this SUV with comfort features. But now for the ones who would love to drive this monster daily, it was important to provide them with basic features like air conditioning system and engine immobilizer.

The 2012 Mahindra Thar 4x4 SUV now will come with effectual air conditioning system with engine immobilizer for a price of just Rs. 6.68 lakh. The air conditioning and engine immobilizer has certainly increased the price of the SUV by a hefty Rs. 87000, but it is quite worth it. The Indian summers are pretty extreme, so spending a bit more in comfort won’t hurt you that much. Talking about its technical specifications, Thar would be offered in direct injection engine type option also, which is a bit less expensive than CRDe engine. On the other hand, the Mahindra Thar DI variant is targeted towards the rural market, therefore, engine immobilizer and air conditioning system will still not be offered in DI engine variants.

Mahindra Thar CRDe has a 2.5 litre of common rail turbo diesel engine, which is capable of churning out 105 BHP of peak power along with 247 Nm of maximum torque. The engine has been coupled with 5 speed manual gearbox with 4x4 system triggered via Borg Warner manual transfer case. By the looks, Mahindra Thar could not be called a head-turner, but is immensely powerful and is perfect for Indian rugged terrains. Hence, in a price of Rs. 6.68 lakh, Mahindra’s Thar 4x4 SUV is not a bad deal at all.
