Audi Q5 to be assembled in India

Audi Q5, the super luxury car model, which had won the 2009 Golden Steering Wheel and the Best Off-Roader in Europe award, will be assembled in Audi's Aurangabad plant in India. Though there will be no change in the price of the model in the country.
The company is looking to assemble Audi Q5 by the middle of this year from its Aurangabad plant. The Audi CKD production site in Aurangabad can be adapted to the demand of the Indian market. Company has been absorbing the price differentials as it was an introductory price. But once it start importing Q5’s CKD kits, the price will remain the same, said, Audi India's official spokesperson.
Audi Q5 SUV is available in two engine options, a 2.0 TFSI (petrol) and a 3.0 TDI (diesel) engines. Where the 2.0 TFSI (petrol) model will be priced at Rs 3,829,000 (erx-showroom Mumbai), the 3.0 TDI (diesel) model will be available Rs. 4,419,000. With this the model is available in six different colour options – Stratos Blue, Garnet Red, Ice Silver, Meteor Grey, Phantom Black and Ibis White.
Audi India is aiming to sell 2300 cars in India in year 2010, which will account for a sales increase of 40 percent, as compare to the sales of this year at 1,658 units. According to Benoit Tiers, managing director of Audi India, The completely knocked down (CKD) production site in Aurangabad is based on an extremely flexible concept that means it can ‘breathe’ and can be adapted to new market requirements. Around 750 cars were produced at the CKD site in 2009 and by 2015 we plan a yearly production of 5,300 cars.
