Indian auto market is luring the auto mobile biggies from around the world. However the recent budget announced by the Central Government of India has levied heavy taxes on the luxury pre built cars. The Indian Government is heavily putting custom duty on gearbox, transmission and engines which are preassembled.
Audi has reacted highly on the increased custom taxes and also gave bold statements of considering stepping back. However, it is a passe recently Michael Persche, the Indian honcho of Audi was heard saying that India is a long term goal for the German auto company. He said that India is a long race for the auto company. The domestic auto market looks great and it is likely that by 2015 they will gain the numero uno position. He further added that at present the company is growing immensely. Already, Audi tops the chart in Europe and China and hopes soon to capture the Indian auto market.
Audi India is looking for more exactness about the new tax levied by the Indian Government.
The German auto giant is still to decide on the strategy which will be used against the new tax norms. The company is looking for more exactness on the new tax systems set by the government.
If looking at the Indian luxury car market it is expected to do quite well in the times to come. When witnessing the last years sales figures only 0.7 per cent of the domestic auto market was covered by the luxury car segment. For future, it is expected that the total domestic auto market will reach at 5 million. Audi is sure to capture 25-27 per cent of the luxury car market share.
