The German Automotive companies have been ruling the industry since ages and are now placing their bets on India and the growing automotive suction here. German companies are known for their detailing and fine engineering. In a recent Press conference of a leading German company, the hosts before the start of the formal ceremony instructed to check the fine working of the pens that were to be distributed as a part of their information material. This trivial example simply denoted their fine eye on detailing and perfection. The same extends to their engineering in the Automobile arena, certainly elevating on a larger scale.

The major brands in Germany target high-end sophisticated luxury Sedans and SUV's in their lineage of products. Having a peep into their customary products it seems that they would have a tough time enlarging their presence in the Indian Automotive market which is highly price-cautious. Thus, the question that would ring in every company targeting the Indian Car segment would be to make a car that is affordable by a common middle class Indian, feels Abdul Majeed, who tracks the automotive sector at PwC. German companies.

When German cars are on a discussion, one can't fail to mention the big trio of BMW, Mercedez and Audi all placing big stakes in India.
Benoit Tiers, the man leading the charge for Audi in India, feels that this is just the right time to be in India, the idea is not to have big volumes immediately, but to have the best after-sales experience and right products. The last year, 2009, Audi witnessed 58% rise in its sales for premium Sedans, while the volumes remaining low.

Another German car major, BMW has managed to top the charts of 20 Lakh-plus Car segment in India over the recent years. Mercedez-benz, a staunch rival for the above and the first one to realise the potential of Indian consumer market is also expanding its dominance in the luxury car segment. However, all these major German Car brands are placing their best foot forward to lure the Indian customers they would still have a hard time trying to make a cost effective model that would actually strike a chord amongst the masses in India.
