We break down the pros, cons, and reasons to buy (or skip) the Alcazar Prestige
The three-row mid-size SUV segment is becoming increasingly popular in India. The latest to join the fray is Hyundai with the Creta-based Alcazar, a premium, feature-heavy offering. The Alcazar gets two engine options: 1.5-litre diesel and 2.0-litre petrol. These can be paired with either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
Depending on the variant, you can have the Alcazar as either a six or a seven-seater (the former has captain seats in the middle row). Here, we have a detailed analysis of the base-spec Prestige variant to help you decide if you should buy it:

Why Buy The Prestige Variant?
This is the only seven-seater variant with the diesel-automatic powertrain! This entry-level Alcazar is pretty well-equipped, covering all the basics and then adding some premium features too. Features include a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging, a large touchscreen with connected car technology, and 64-colour ambient lighting.
The Alcazar Prestige comes as a six-seater as well.

Why Skip The Prestige Variant?
If you want the comprehensive safety features along with all the bells and whistles that make the Alcazar a truly premium offering, the Prestige variant won’t cut it for you. Instead, it is the mid-spec Platinum that offers a 360-degree camera, leatherette upholstery, digital driver’s display, and crucial side and curtain airbags. However, you don’t have the same flexibility of seating layouts as the Prestige.
But if you’re on a tight budget, remember the premium for the Platinum is well over Rs 1.5 lakh.

Verdict |
Well-loaded entry variant, and your only choice for a seven-seater with the diesel-automatic combine. |
|
Big jump in price, but packs almost all the wow features except the ventilated seats. Sensible too, thanks to being available as both six and seven-seaters. |
|
Yes, the ventilated-seat variant! Step up to Signature if going for a Platinum automatic. |
