Hyundai unveiled its SUV, Tucson, at the recently concluded Auto Expo 2016. The car has been much talked about and will fill the gap between Creta and Santa Fe for the South Korean automaker. Expected to be launched in mid-2016, the four-wheeler is likely to fall in the price bracket of Rs. 17 - 22 lac. It is expected to be offered with petrol and diesel engine options and will be competing with Honda CR V, which does not offer a diesel trim. The diesel mill of Tucson might be offered with two tunes viz. 134 bhp and 182 bhp. For those who are planning to buy a car in this segment, we have compared Tucson’s diesel trim (182 bhp) with Honda's CR V 2.0-litre variant, as both are anticipated to make an appearance almost at the same price. Have a look!
CR V is a great option, but considering the power delivery figures, the automobile looks slightly over priced. Market response to the four-wheeler has also not been so encouraging. On the other hand, Hyundai Tucson was on sale in India for a period of approximately five years from 2005 - 2010. It is not new to the Indian market. The vehicle was discontinued then due to shortage of demand. But, now the market has changed phenomenally. People have accepted cars like Hyundai Creta and Ford EcoSport with open hearts. Tucson is likely to re-enter India, equipped with upgraded features like an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment unit, panoramic sunroof and advance AC. It will also deploy latest technological updates. All these factors are expected to keep Hyundai ahead in the ever-changing market.
