The Kia Sonet is due to enter the Indian sub-4m SUV segment on September 18. We’ve already had the chance to explore it up close and we’ll be bringing you our first drive impressions soon. But we now have our first look at some of the accessories that will be offered with the Sonet.
Before we get to the usual slew of chrome garnishings that will be on offer, we noticed the glossy black faux hood vents and chrome-finish side vents behind the front wheel arches are an unusual choice as an official accessory. They make the Sonet look even sportier and could fool the average person, but fake vents are often looked down upon. However, the black bumper guards are a far more useful feature and blend in well enough, especially as contrasting elements to this white Sonet.
Onto the chrome garnish accessories which can be had around the optional door visors, front fog lamps, outside rearview mirrors, door sills, tail lamps, boot lid, rear reflectors and over the wheel arches. Even the recess of the door handles can be garnished with chrome. The Sonet’s accessory list also includes rugged looking side steps and branded metal plates in the door sills. We expect to see more accessories to be revealed once the Sonet is launched.
The Kia Sonet will be available in two trim lines: Tech Line and GT Line and the latter will be a single, top-spec variant. It will be offered with a total of five powertrain options which includes three engines: 1.2-litre petrol, 1.0-litre turbo-petrol and 1.5-litre diesel. The Sonet will likely be priced between Rs 6.6 lakh and Rs 12.9 lakh (ex-showroom) and will rival the Hyundai Venue, Ford EcoSport, Mahindra XUV300 as well as similarly priced compact SUVs.
