Renault Modus hatchback coming by year end

Just after the launch of Renault Koleos, a new hatchback seems to be on the cards for Indian market from the French car-maker Renault. The new hatchback christened as Renault Modus, has been recently caught in the lenses by car enthusiasts. The car was making a test trip on the roads of Chennai which houses the manufacturing unit of Renault and many other car giants. Renault Modus price is expected to be around Rs 5 lakh and as per preliminary reports it will hit Indian roads by the end of the year.

Renault Modus hatchback is expected to feature a petrol and diesel variant in India and it is surely going to attract many buyers. Renault Modus, already present in global market since 2003, offers a 1.2 litre 16-valve petrol engine which can churn out 75 bhp power and a diesel motor that churns out 88 bhp power. Both of these variants can see their future in Indian model also. A distinct feature is the height of the car. Renault Modus has a high roof-line and a big boot that offers ample space in the hatch. Also, the rear seats can be folded to expand the volume. As safety is the key word for car buyers these days, Renault Modus in India is likely to load the car with many safety features. Airbags on both driver and passenger sides could be on offered on Renault Modus. ABS is also expected to make into the Indian version as most cars in this segment do come with this safety feature.

What is now expected of the car is its price. Unlike Renault Koleos, Renault Modus price should definitely fall into the competitive range as this segment is already witnessing a burgeoning competition. To achieve this, features like automatic climate control and automatic headlights and wipers may not make it to the car. Renault Modus seems to be preparing itself to take on hatchback cars like the Hyundai i20, Honda Jazz and the Ford Figo.
