As per close sources, Renault is eyeing to explore the premium sedan segment which is currently dominated by the Volkswagen Passat. The French auto giant Renault is in the process of finalizing the development and introduction of a luxury sedan in the D+ segment that is expected to take on the likes of Passat. Renault wishes to achieve this goal as early as 2016. No final decision about the specifications of this sedan has been taken but this new car is expected to be placed above the Renault Laguna sedan. The new Renault sedan is expected to be built on the lines of Renault Samsung SM7 which is a luxury sedan sold only in the Korean car market.

Initially this mysterious car will be rolled out in the UK and German auto markets and from the response and the success there the future of this car in other market will be determined. The major competitors of this new sedan will be Passat, Mondeo and BMW 3 Series. In last five-six months, Volkswagen Passat has made a strong foothold in the Indian car market with average monthly sales around 100-150 units. Since Renault is looking at the budding Indian market for further growth, this secret car making way through the Indian roads seems pretty likely.
