Skoda to shuffle brand in India

The India arm of Skoda Auto a part of the German car manufacturer, Volkswagen Group is now ready to change its tag line in 2011, which will be supporting global slogan. Skoda cars are quite well-known, which include in Skoda Octavia, Skoda Fabia, Skoda Laura, Skoda Yeti and Skoda Superb. And now this car manufacturer is ready to change its present slogan “Obsessed with quality since 1895” to “Simply Clever” by the end of this year.

According to the member of the sales and marketing team of Skoda India, Mr. Thomas Kuehl, Skoda is hoping to grab the top spot in the car industry by launching a brand new sedan very soon. Skoda made its debut in the Indian Car Market in the year of 2001 with the present tagline.

Kamal Basu of Saatchi and Saatchi also told that Skoda India’s main aim is to target the consumers who are planning to purchase their first car, within the range of Rs. 6 to 7 Lakh. The new soon to be launched sedan by Skoda, Skoda Rapid will be the first sedan offered by the firm within the price range of Rs. 10 Lakh. About 60 to 70% of the elements will be made locally and would give a very hard hitting fight to other cars in India such as Volkswagen Vento, Hyundai Verna Fluidic and Maruti SX4.

According to the figures, Skoda India managed to sell around 20,000 cars in India in 2010 and is expecting to sell around 32,000 units this year.
