Toyota has launched the Fortuner TRD Celebratory Edition to celebrate 10 years of the Fortuner in the Indian SUV market. Priced at Rs 33.85 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi), the Celebratory Edition features exterior and interior upgrades over the diesel-AT 4x2 variant it’s based on.

It commands a premium of Rs 2.15 lakh over the donor variant while being Rs 25,000 more expensive than the top-spec Fortuner diesel-AT 4x4. Keep in mind, the Celebratory Edition doesn’t get any mechanical changes over its donor variant.

Exterior upgrades include changes to the front and rear bumper with black inserts, TRD badging up front and rear, ‘Celebratory Edition’ emblem on the front fender and charcoal black 18-inch alloy wheels ( diesel-AT 4x2 gets 17-inch rims). It is only available in one dual-tone shade - Pearl White with Attitude Black roof.

The Fortuner TRD Celebratory Edition gets black and maroon perforated seats with contrast red stitching instead of the Chamois shade that you get in the Fortuner 4x2 AT variant. Everything else remains the same as the donor variant. This means it gets a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system with no Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. However, it does get Bluetooth connectivity, DVD playback, USB input and a six-speaker audio system. It also gets steering-mounted audio controls, dual zone climate control with rear AC, and more.

Safety features comprise of seven airbags, rear camera with sensors, ABS with EBD, hill assist control, vehicle stability control, speed-sensing auto door lock with impact-sensing unlock and ISOFIX child seat anchors, among others.

Since there are no mechanical updates, it continues to run the 2.8-litre, 4-cylinder diesel unit that delivers 177PS and 450Nm and is mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission. Toyota will continue to offer the diesel-powered Fortuner post the implementation of the BS6 emission norms in 2020. However, it’s prices could go up y around Rs 5 lakh post the update.

Prices of the Toyota Fortuner range between Rs 27.83 lakh and Rs 33.60 lakh (ex-showroom Delhi). It competes against the Ford Endeavour, Mahindra Alturas G4, Skoda Kodiaq and the Isuzu muX.
