Toyota Prius Hybrid versions to get a showcase at Detroit Auto show

Toyota Motor Corporation is all set to showcase two new versions of the Prius hybrid at the coming Detroit Auto Show. The showcase is sure to reflect the dominance the automaker grabs in the hybrid and electric car market in US. The Detroit Auto show is all set to commence in January 2011 and auto enthusiasts across the world seem to be geared up for the same already.

Don Esmond, Toyota Motor Sales USA senior vice president for automotive operations revealed the showcase that would introduce the next member of the Prius family at the 2011 Detroit Auto Show. The model that would be exhibited would be an all new model with better styling, more comfort and greater versatility. The model however would still retain the heritage of the original Prius.

The gas/hybrid version of all Prius variants would have a unique individuality to them and would not merely be the hybrid versions of other Toyota products. In terms of value additions the new models would offer 50% more interior space as compared to the current model. Toyota Prius is one of the best selling models from the company's stable in the US market. The model indeed tames more than half of the total hybrid sales in America.

Toyota Motors however recorded flatter sales this year due to the global recalls and other vehicle problems. Toyota Prius introduced in the year 1997, has been the first mass-produced electric hybrid vehicle in the country. Toyota Motors recently cleared its stand in terms of sales which have been surging in the month of October and indeed the company is looking forward to hit the best sales record in the month. The month of September, drew a 16.8 percent increase with 147,162 vehicles sold in U.S. market in the net sales for the company.

Toyota India also seems to be in high spirits more so as the company is all geared up for the upcoming launch of Toyot Etios. The car is expected to hit the Indian markets by the end of 2010 and in one of the recent developments, Toyota India signed A.R Rahman, the two time Oscar winner as the brand ambassador for the same.
