GM India registers 14% growth in August, gets overwhelming response for Beat Diesel

General Motors India registered a growth of 14% in sales led by the overwhelming response to Chevrolet Beat Diesel in August 2011, compared to the corresponding period last year. It sold 9050 units in August 2011 against 7941 units sold in August 2010.

The August 2011 sales comprised 4681 units of Chevrolet Beat, 1924 units of Chevrolet Tavera, 1301 units of Chevrolet Spark, 667 units of the Chevrolet Cruze, 161 units of Chevrolet Optra, 203 Units of Chevrolet Aveo and 113 units of the Chevrolet Captiva.

Commenting on the performance, Mr. P. Balendran, Vice President, GM India said, “The growth was primarily driven by the recently launched most fuel efficient vehicle Chevrolet Beat Diesel.   In addition, the increase in customer outreach through distribution network, our unique value propositions in terms of Chevrolet promise and our promise to deliver quality and performance have also contributed to the sales. We remain committed to fully leveraging our resources to offer customers across the country best-in-class products and services that meet their unique needs. Although we have registered 14% growth, the market continues to be sluggish due to the repeated hike in interest rates and fuel prices, he added.
